After no racing at Laird Raceway for the last two summers, 37 cars took to the 1/3 oval to take part in the 2022 LIR Enduro on Saturday, June 25th in front of 750+ race fans.
The 2022 LIR Enduro started the first lap with 37 cars racing around the 1/3 oval for a chance of winning $4,000.00 for the first car to finish the 100 lap race. With the race coming to a planned caution after 25 laps, 31 cars were vying for the opportunity to cash in on the big payday at Laird Raceway. With the second caution flag being waved at the halfway point of the LIR Enduro, the fans still seen 27 cars racing around the track with six cars sitting in the middle of the infield waiting for the final caution at 75 laps for a chance to have their cars limp back to the pits and not being able to race the final 25. With time and laps ticking down, 21 cars headed around the 1/3 oval for their chance to capture the checkered flag. When flagman waved the checkered flag, 17 cars followed Cody Champagne across the finish line to wrap up the first Enduro race of the 2022 season and Champagne taking home $4,000.00 for his accomplishment of winning the LIR Enduro 100.
Cody Champagne told Rev It Up Racing that “I am honestly speechless, I really don’t know what to say other then this race was dedicated to my grandmother she was definitely watching over us yesterday that’s for sure.”
Next up for Laird Raceway will be on July 2nd with the Race for the Flag/Canada Day Special. Four divisions will return for biweekly racing with Super Late Models, NAPA Auto Parts Michigan Modifieds, Service Rental Factory Stocks, and Atomic Blonde Factory Fours taking to the track.
