For the 57th time since 1986, the Stars and Cars of the American-Canadian Tour invade the historic third-mile oval on Route 26 in Oxford, Maine on Sunday, July 10th. Oxford Plains Speedway once again welcomes the American-Canadian Tour in an epic Sunday afternoon double-header event alongside the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models. The PASS Modifieds, R&R Raceparts Open Street Stock Series and Oxford Limited Sportsman make up the undercard for this incredible 5-division showdown.
The ACT Oxford 125 is the fifth event on the 2022 calendar and comes during the first major points shake-up of the season. With the absence of several full-time teams from Autodrome Chaudiere on June 25th, Center Conway, New Hampshire’s D.J. Shaw took advantage with a strong fourth place run to gain the point lead over St-Denis, Quebec’s Patrick Laperle and Dartmouth, Massachusetts-native Derek Gluchacki. Blainville, Quebec’s Jonathan Bouvrette and Derry, New Hampshire’s Erick Sands also took advantage of the first ‘Canadian Swing’ to round out the newest top five in the standings.
Gluchacki will certainly be one to watch yet again, having two very strong runs at the broad Oxford oval in 2021, he’s looking for his first Vacationland win with the American-Canadian Tour. While this will be the first time Shaw is put on the defense of his point cushion, he’s also in search of redemption for his second-place finish during Oxford 250 weekend last season.
Oxford Plains remains a crapshoot for the American-Canadian Tour full timers. Yearly visits to the Route 26 oval annually bring in part-time invaders and one-off outings for teams looking to take their first shots in ACT competition. The American-Canadian Tour Ironman, Claude Leclerc, returns to the field after his first start at Chaudiere, New Gloucester, Maine’s David MacDonald returns to his Oxford home track and Seekonk regular Ryan Flood from Sandwich, Massachusetts looks to make his first ACT start.
