Home Track Teams Lead the Peterborough Speedway Late Season Charge (ON)

Every position in the finishing order awards points toward the overall season championship. With just a handful of events remaining in the 2022 regular season schedule, drivers and teams will be searching for every possible advantage as they search for the weekly class titles at Peterborough Speedway.

This year’s, Saturday, August 6th kick-off for the Hot August Nights Racing Series will include the home track Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock and Late Model divisions, along with the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series. King of the Hill will be the intermission feature. Pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 p.m and racing at 6:00 p.m.

Passes can be purchased in advance by selecting the ‘buy tickets’ option on the website. Cash only sales are also available at the trackside ticket booth on race day.

Heading into the 5-race stretch that will close out the 2022 regular season, reigning track champion Jeremy Kelly leads the Mini Stock standings, with last season’s rookie of the year Kyle Gordon at the top of the Renegade Truck running order. Former track champion Bailey Jacobs has a slim, three-point advantage in the Super Stock rundown, while James Townsend has an 18-point cushion over 2nd place in the Late Model rankings.

There are still several special events remaining as the 55th consecutive schedule of weekly racing at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval winds-down. The inaugural running of the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Bill Pickford Memorial event takes the spotlight Saturday, August 20th along with the home track Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Super Stock and Late Model divisions. The Championship Clash – to decide the 2022 track titles – is scheduled for Saturday, September 3rd and will once again include Top 10 Shootouts for all weekly divisions.
