Following their extremely successful one-off V-8 Street Stock opens at Lee USA Speedway and White Mountain Motorsports Park in the past, the newly established R&R Race Parts Open Street Stock Series is ready to invade Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl on Thursday, June 23rd for Community College of Vermont Night.
The R&R Race Parts Street Stock Series is built on an ‘open competition’ rulebook, a platform that allows V-8 Street Stocks from across New England to compete fairly at new venues for great pay-outs. So far this season, the R&R Series has competed at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the 2nd Annual Northeast Classic with plans to also travel to New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway and White Mountain Motorsports Park, Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway, Maine’s Oxford Plains Speedway and Seekonk Speedway in Massachusetts.
Alongside the V-8 powered R&R Street Stocks, the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models will have double features on Thursday, pushing the need for a special 6:30pm post time. Starting off Thursday with the rained-out Casella Waste Management 50-lapper, the Late Models will have to quickly turn their mounts around for the Community College of Vermont feature event.
After Michael MacAskill became the first two-time winner in 2022 Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers competition, the point lead is still led by sophomore Justin Prescott by a slim margin over Derrick Calkins. Tigers also have the option to run in the R&R Street Stock Open should they take on the challenge to keep the $1,000 top prize in Barre.
Tommy ‘Thunder’ Smith added to his all-time wins list in Miles Street Stock competition last time out and will certainly look to continue that top-of-the-chart career. Quietly making his way up the standings is former champion Jeffrey Martin, he’ll be one to watch on Community College of Vermont night.
Also on the docket is the 8th Annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Non-Winners Race. Named in memory of longtime pharmacist and Street Stock underdog, the race is annually held for non-winners in the 4-cylinder ranks at a 19-lap distance, longtime number of the late racer. Taylor Hoar, Trevor Jaques and Jesse Laquerre are among the top of our list of 14 qualified drivers who will look to take down their first Thunder Road win in the Marvin Johnson Memorial event.
The epic Community College of Vermont Night will feature the $1,000-to-win R&R Race Parts Street Stock Open Series 75, double-feature action for the Maplewood/Irving Oil Late Models plus regular distance events for the Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers and rk Miles Street Stocks. Also included is the 8th Annual Marvin Johnson Memorial Non-Winners Race for the rk Miles Street Stocks. CCV Night starts with a special 6:30pm Post Time with pricing set at $15 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under with the family four pack available for $30.
