After starting the season with a pair of rainouts in three attempts, teams with the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series are excited about heading to Sunset Speedway Saturday, June 25th for their first visit of the year.
Heading into this weekend’s show finds former Series champion Matt Haufe at the top of the point standings on the strength of a pair of qualifying heat wins and his runner-up effort in the Saturday, June 4th main event. Dawson Drimmie is 2nd, with opening round winner Parker Traves 3rd, just 7 points behind the leader. Rookie of the Year candidate Jordan Latimer sits 4th, Mark Griffin is 5th. Series owner and spokesperson Kevin Foisy says he expects many of the teams will use the event at Sunset to build some set-up notes for this year’s running of the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals.
“Some of the drivers in our starting field may have been at Sunset before in a different type of car, but this will be their first exposure to the track in one of our machines,” explained Kevin Foisy. “Its never too early to start getting ready for a first start at a new track so having the opportunity to do some homework with an event like the Asphalt Nationals on the horizon just makes good sense.”
