BRUMLIC NETS $1,500 PAYDAY IN EAGLE RIVER SPEEDWAY STOCK CAR SHOOTOUT

Denmark’s Tom Brumlic fought off a tenacious challenge from Wausau’s Kevin Bogdanovich in the waning laps and went on to win the $1,500 Coffen Construction stock car shootout at Eagle River Speedway Tuesday, July 5th.

The race pitted IMCA style stock cars against WISSOTA street stocks and Brumlic is a topflight IMCA stock car pilot who races in the greater Green Bay area.

The former IMCA hobby stock champion started on the pole position but surrendered the lead at the drop of the green to former track champion Jason Eisel of Sugar Camp. Eisel kept the top spot through a pair of cautions early on while Brumlic dove underneath the Sugar Camp ace on a handful of occasions but held off making the pass.

Brumlic ducked inside of Eisel past the event’s halfway point to grab the lead. A caution flew with five laps remaining and Brumlic felt the heat from Bogdanovic in the final laps. The Denmark veteran hung on for the win.

Bogdanvic took home runnerup money, followed by defending track champion David Blackberg of Eagle River. Jason Zdroik of Eagle River and Eisel took fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Out of the top five finisher two drivers were wheeling IMCA stock cars (Brumlic and Zdroik), two more were competing with WISSOTA street stocks (Bogdanovic and Blackberg) and Eisel was piloting and Unified street stock.

Former track champion Jesse Aho scored a late race pass on fellow Michigan racer Dave Dishaw to score the B mod feature while hometown driver Jason Zdroik scored a thrilling, last lap win by passing Pittsville’s Eric Pember on the final straightaway at the checkers to score the win.

Dishaw picked up the street stock feature win later in the evening. In winged action Minocqua’s Andy Fink emerged triumphant in the 600 micro feature while the 300 micro wins went to Kayden “Bubba” Halsey and Michigan’s Carter Aho.

Racing will resume Tuesday, July 12 with round II of the Chef Rene’s B Mod Triple Crown presented by Hartman’s Well Drilling and Red’s Auto. A $1,000 top prize awaits the winner with the feature paying $125 to start. The first green flag is set to fly at 730 p.m. Fans are encouraged to please check the track’s website Facebook page or you can email patzdroik@yahoo.com or call (715) 891 1870.
